History of Oud
Oud has a long and illustrious history of being used in religious, ceremonial and medicinal capacities. From the Far East to The Gulf, Oud has been used for thousands of years and has become deeply embedded in cultures around the world. Oud has been mentioned in ancient religious texts and is associated with royalty and rulers. It also has been used in ancient medicine from India and China.
The fact that it is a rare commodity has only further increased the appetite for high quality Oud. Naturally occurring in the forests of Asia it is primarily cultivated in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh.
Through its history Oud has gained a reputation as being the preserve of the elite of society – although this is changing as more people in the West become accustomed to new fragrances which use it. With a new found audience who appreciate its intoxicating aroma, Oud is now growing in popularity worldwide.

From tree to oil
The process of creating Oud begins with the Agarwood tree. From our plantations in Sylhet we cultivate Agarwood trees which become suffused with Oud. The Agarwood is then taken to our distillery’s where it is treated to provide a rich and intense oil.
Our plantations in Sylhet hold our resource of Agarwood trees with some of them hundreds of years old. We take pride in our trees and whenever one is taken we replace it with fresh seedlings. In this way Jalali Agarwood ensure the supply of Agarwood trees for future generations.
Since Agarwood is a natural resource we value it completely and we believe we are custodians of it. Our aim is to bring Oud to a larger audience but at the same time to ensure a steady supply of healthy trees which support not only Oud production but the local environment too.
Process of creating Oud
The distillation process is undertaken by highly skilled artisans who have devoted their entire lives to the production of excellent Oud. Through years of honing their craft they produce an Oud oil which cannot be matched anywhere else in the world.
Producing Oud cannot be rushed and you need patience, perseverance and endurance. In the hot and humid surroundings of tropical Bangladesh our distillers follow age-old recipes to create concoctions that will inspire, amaze and seduce you.
